Applications

The Compaq Mobile 3500 Expansion Unit was part of Compaq's late-1990s line of modular laptop accessories, designed to give road warriors added functionality without carrying a full-size docking station. The integrated floppy drive was essential in that era for data transfer, software installation, and system recovery — tasks that the slim host notebook's chassis couldn't accommodate on its own. Today, these units are primarily sought by collectors and technicians maintaining legacy Compaq Mobile 3500 or PP2010 systems, or by those restoring period-correct setups. The unit connects directly to the bottom or side of the compatible notebook, allowing the floppy drive to function as though it were built into the machine.
