Applications
The Comair Rotron Major DC series fan assemblies are DC-powered cooling blowers designed for use in telecommunications and networking equipment, where 48 VDC is the standard power rail. The 48-volt DC bus is the long-established power standard in telecom central offices, carrier-class network hardware, and high-density rack chassis — equipment such as the Nortel Centillion 5000 ATM switch, from which this assembly was pulled, relied on forced-air cooling of this type to manage heat across densely populated backplane slots. These fan assemblies are commonly sought as direct replacement parts for Nortel Centillion 5000 chassis and similar 48VDC telecom and networking equipment from the mid-to-late 1990s era.
This Comair Rotron JQ48B0X Major DC dual fan blower was pulled from a Nortel Centillion 5000 network chassis where it was previously in service. The metal housing is intact and shows typical wear consistent with rack-mounted use. Both 7-blade axial fans and their hexagonal mesh guards are present and appear undamaged. The unit has not been powered up or tested at our facility. Please review our photos and contact us with any questions.
