Applications

Colorado Memory Systems was a prominent manufacturer of tape backup drives for IBM-compatible PCs during the late 1980s and early 1990s, a period when floppy-interface and IDE-interface tape drives were a common solution for home and small-office PC backup. The T1640 power supply was used with CMS's own-branded tape drive units — which were also sold under the Colorado brand after HP/Colorado Memory Systems merged their tape drive lines. These drives and their accessories remain in demand for maintaining legacy systems, restoring archived data from CMS-format tapes, and completing sets for collectors of vintage PC hardware. A correct OEM power supply is essential for safe, reliable operation of the original drive hardware.
