Description
Coherent UltraPulse 5000C CO2 Surgical Laser Skin Resurfacing System 1995
The Coherent UltraPulse 5000C is a pulsed CO2 surgical laser system designed for skin resurfacing, ablation, and aesthetic surgical procedures. Manufactured in December 1995 at Coherent's Palo Alto, California facility, this system delivers high-peak-power CO2 laser energy at 10,600 nm through an articulated arm delivery system, with a HeNe aiming beam and an integrated pattern generator for controlled treatment patterns. This is a complete system sold with its original accessories.

Applications
The UltraPulse 5000C belongs to Coherent's UltraPulse family of high-peak-power CO2 lasers, which were among the most widely used surgical CO2 laser platforms in aesthetic and reconstructive medicine from the mid-1990s through the early 2000s. CO2 lasers at 10,600 nm are strongly absorbed by water in tissue, making them effective tools for controlled ablation and resurfacing of skin. The UltraPulse design delivers energy in short, high-peak-power pulses that ablate tissue while limiting residual thermal damage — a key advance over earlier continuous-wave CO2 systems. Clinical applications include full-face and regional skin resurfacing for wrinkles, acne scarring, and sun damage; surgical excision of benign and premalignant lesions; and other ablative dermatologic and plastic surgery procedures. The integrated pattern generator enables physicians to precisely control treatment spot shape, size, and density for consistent coverage. This type of system was commonly found in dermatology practices, plastic surgery centers, and hospital outpatient surgical suites throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, and remains in active use at facilities that maintain and service older CO2 laser platforms.
This Coherent UltraPulse 5000C CO2 Surgical Laser has been pulled from a working clinical environment where it was previously in service. The unit has not been powered up or tested at our facility. Cosmetically it is in good used condition consistent with clinical service use; the cabinet shows minor surface wear and the articulated arm, handpiece, and accessories appear intact. The front panel displays illuminate (as shown in our photos with the unit in STANDBY), and all major components are present including the articulated delivery arm, pistol-grip handpiece in its aluminum carry case with optics and cleaning kit, pattern generator module, shielded foot switch, and documentation binders. ⚠️ The sale of this item is subject to regulation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and applicable state and local regulatory agencies.
