Applications
The Clarent CPG 101 belongs to the first generation of consumer and small-business VoIP gateways that emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s, as broadband internet began displacing dial-up and businesses sought to reduce long-distance telephone costs by routing calls over IP networks. Clarent Corporation was an early pioneer in VoIP gateway technology, and the CPG (Customer Premises Gateway) line was designed for deployment at the customer site — connecting legacy analog phones and fax machines to a broadband uplink handled by a Clarent softswitch or carrier-class call-routing platform. The four analog ports made it suitable for small offices, remote branch sites, or home offices that needed to run multiple analog handsets or a fax line over a single broadband connection. While Clarent's carrier infrastructure products have long since been superseded, CPG 101 units remain of interest to VoIP researchers, legacy network labs, and collectors of early IP telephony equipment.
This Clarent CPG 101 VoIP over Broadband Gateway has been inspected and is in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. The unit shows light surface wear consistent with normal office use. The base unit only is included — no AC adapter or other accessories are provided. A 12VDC 1A power supply (barrel connector) will be needed to operate the unit. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions. Please note: We have multiple units in stock — yours may not be the one shown in the photos, however, it will be similar in condition and function.
