Description

Buchi R-215 Rotavapor with V-850 Vacuum Controller B-491 Heating Bath

The Buchi R-215 Rotavapor is a benchtop rotary evaporator used in chemical, pharmaceutical, and research laboratories for the gentle evaporation and concentration of solvents under reduced pressure. This listing includes the complete working system: the R-215 Rotavapor unit, the V-850 Vacuum Controller, and the B-491 Heating Bath — all from Buchi Switzerland. The R-215 features a digital display showing rotation speed and vapor temperature, and accepts a wide range of evaporation flasks from 50 mL up to 4000 mL.

Applications

Rotary evaporators are standard equipment in synthetic chemistry, pharmaceutical development, food science, and research laboratories. The R-215 is used to remove solvents from reaction mixtures, concentrate extracts, and perform solvent recovery under reduced pressure — all without the thermal degradation that open-vessel evaporation can cause. The B-491 heating bath warms the sample flask while the system rotates it, increasing evaporation surface area, and the V-850 vacuum controller automates and regulates the vacuum level for precise, reproducible results. The Buchi R-200/R-215 series was a widely adopted platform in academic and industrial labs throughout the 2000s and continues to see active use wherever controlled evaporation and solvent recovery are needed. Compatible Buchi vacuum pumps (such as the V-700 or V-710 series) and recirculating chillers/condensers are commonly paired with this system to complete the evaporation train.

Condition: Used
This Buchi R-215 Rotavapor system has been powered and tested at our facility. The R-215 Rotavapor is functional — rotation control operates and RPM can be set without issue. The B-491 Heating Bath powers on and heats normally. The V-850 Vacuum Controller powers on and settings can be adjusted; it could not be fully tested for vacuum regulation since a vacuum pump is not included with this unit. The vacuum pump is not included. The system shows normal wear from lab use — the housing and bath are clean overall with typical cosmetic marks consistent with regular use.
