Applications
AT-style keyboards with DIN 5-pin connectors were the standard input device for IBM PC AT compatible computers throughout the mid-1980s to mid-1990s. The AT interface preceded the smaller PS/2 mini-DIN connector, which became common from the late 1980s onward; many systems of that transitional era used one or the other, and passive adapters between AT and PS/2 were widely available. BTC (Behavior Tech Computer) was a prolific Taiwanese OEM keyboard manufacturer whose products were sold under many brand names and bundled with IBM-compatible PCs of the era. Today, AT keyboards like this one are primarily used for maintaining and operating legacy IBM PC AT, XT, and compatible systems — including older industrial computers, CNC controllers, and embedded PC platforms — that still require or expect the original AT connector. Hobbyists and vintage computer enthusiasts also seek them out for period-correct restorations.
This BTC 5339R-0 AT Keyboard (53 Series) has been tested prior to shipment and is in working condition. The housing shows noticeable yellowing throughout — typical of aged beige plastics from this era — and the case has some dirt and discoloration visible on the top surface and edges. The F5 keycap is missing, exposing the key switch underneath. All other keys and the coiled DIN 5-pin cord are present.
