Description
BK Precision 1805 80 MHz 8-Digit Frequency Counter Dynascan Period Total
The BK Precision 1805 is an 80 MHz benchtop frequency counter manufactured by Dynascan Corporation, the Chicago-based company behind the BK Precision instrument line. It features an 8-digit LED display and measures three quantities: frequency, period, and totalize (event counting). A front-panel BNC input accepts signals from 5 Hz to 80 MHz with 1 MΩ input impedance and a maximum input of 200V Pk. Selectable resolution, an attenuator, a low-frequency filter, and a hold function round out the front-panel controls.

Applications
The BK Precision 1805 is a general-purpose benchtop frequency counter suited for electronics labs, service benches, and hobbyist use. Frequency counters like this measure the number of cycles per second of a periodic signal, making them essential for characterizing oscillators, crystals, RF circuits, and signal generators. The period mode is useful when working with lower-frequency signals where period measurement is more intuitive, and the totalize mode counts discrete events or pulses. The 1805 dates from the late 1970s to early 1980s — the era when Dynascan was a major producer of affordable bench instruments under the BK Precision brand, aimed at technicians, educators, and small electronics shops who needed dependable test equipment at a practical price point. Units like this remain useful today for general bench characterization, educational settings, and vintage electronics repair where 80 MHz coverage is more than adequate.
This BK Precision 1805 80 MHz 8-Digit Frequency Counter has been pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. It has not been powered up or tested at our facility. The unit appears to be in good cosmetic condition — the beige and brown housing shows normal shelf wear typical of benchtop lab equipment from this era, and the front-panel controls and display area look intact and undamaged. The power cord is attached. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
