Applications
The BayStack 101 is a mid-1990s 10BASE-T Ethernet hub from Bay Networks, a leading networking vendor of that era (later acquired by Nortel Networks). Hubs of this type were the primary method of connecting workstations, servers, and printers in small-to-medium Ethernet segments before managed switches became mainstream. All ports on a hub share the same collision domain, making them straightforward to deploy in legacy environments. The BayStack 101's NMM slot allowed network administrators to add SNMP-based management, giving visibility into port status and network utilization — a notable feature at a time when unmanaged hubs were the norm. Units like this remain in use today in legacy network environments, industrial facilities, and lab setups where 10BASE-T infrastructure is still maintained, and they are also collected by networking historians and hobbyists interested in the Bay Networks / Nortel lineage.
This Bay Networks BayStack 101 CG1001x01 10BASE-T Hub has been inspected and appears to be in good condition. The chassis shows typical light wear consistent with prior rack use, but no significant damage is evident. All 12 RJ-45 ports, the DB-9 comm port, and rear management ports appear intact. The unit is hub only — no additional NMM modules are included. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
