Applications
The Pfeiffer DUO series two-stage rotary vane pumps are workhorses of laboratory and light industrial vacuum systems, commonly used as stand-alone roughing pumps or as the fore-pump backing a turbomolecular pump in high-vacuum systems. Typical applications include semiconductor process equipment (CVD, PVD, etch), analytical instrumentation (mass spectrometers, electron microscopes, leak detectors), freeze dryers and lyophilizers, vacuum ovens, coating systems, and general laboratory vacuum lines. The DUO 016B's 16 m³/h pumping speed and two-stage design make it well-suited for systems requiring a clean, oil-sealed rough vacuum in the 10⁻³ to 10⁻⁴ mbar range. This model was produced through the mid-to-late 1990s under the Balzers Pfeiffer name before the company was rebranded to Pfeiffer Vacuum.
This Balzers Pfeiffer DUO 016B rotary vane vacuum pump trips the circuit breaker when plugged in and is being sold AS-IS for parts or repair. No further testing was performed beyond plugging it in. The pump's exterior is in good cosmetic shape overall — the finned aluminum housing is clean and intact, the KF25 inlet port and exhaust port are present, the gas ballast valve lever moves freely, and the O/I control panel with start/stop buttons is intact. The power cord terminates in a US Arrow-Hart 6A/125V plug. The source of the electrical fault has not been diagnosed, and the unit is not guaranteed functional in any way. It may be suitable for parts, rebuild, or repair. Please review all photos carefully and contact us with any questions before purchasing.
