Applications
The Merlin PBX platform was Lucent Technologies' (later Avaya's) mid-market business telephone system, widely deployed in small to medium-sized businesses from the mid-1980s through the 2000s. The 408 GS/LS card slots into the Merlin cabinet backplane to expand outside line capacity and analog station count simultaneously — a single card handles both incoming PSTN trunk connections and the analog desk phone extensions connected to them. Ground Start and Loop Start are the two standard signaling modes used by central office telephone lines; the 408 supports either, making it compatible with most North American POTS line types. These cards remain in demand for businesses still running legacy Merlin systems, as well as for technicians maintaining, repairing, or parts-sourcing for installed Merlin Legend and Merlin Magix systems.
This Avaya 408 GS/LS Merlin analog telephone expansion card has been pulled from a working PBX environment where it was previously in service. It has been visually inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The housing shows light surface wear consistent with normal use and age. Both port panels — the 4-port outside line side and the 8-port analog telephone side — appear complete and undamaged, with all RJ connectors present and in good shape. The card edge connector looks clean. This unit has not been powered up or bench-tested at our facility. Please review all photos and contact us with any questions before purchasing.
