The Definity Multimedia Link was developed to extend the capabilities of AT&T's Definity PBX platform — a widely deployed enterprise telephone system introduced in the late 1980s and expanded through the 1990s under both AT&T and Lucent Technologies branding after the 1996 AT&T/Lucent split. The module interfaces with Definity G1, G3, and related system generations, providing ISDN Basic Rate Interface (BRI) connectivity for digital voice and data applications at the desktop level. The DCP (Digital Communications Protocol) ports connect to Definity digital telephone sets and adjunct devices, while the BRI port supports ISDN-capable terminals, videoconferencing endpoints, or digital data equipment. These modules were commonly used in corporate, government, and institutional environments running Definity PBX infrastructure. Today they remain sought after for maintaining and expanding legacy Definity systems still in service, as well as for laboratory and test use in PBX environments.
