Applications

Refrigerated air dryers are a standard component of industrial compressed air systems. When compressed air leaves a compressor, it is saturated with water vapor that, if left untreated, causes corrosion in pipes, tool wear, product contamination, and freeze damage in cold environments. A refrigerated dryer like the FX7 cools the air stream to near its pressure dew point (typically 2–10°C), condensing and draining the moisture before the dry air reaches downstream tools, pneumatic controls, or production processes. The Atlas Copco FX series is widely used in manufacturing plants, machine shops, paint booths, food and beverage processing, and general industrial facilities where a reliable supply of dry compressed air is essential. The FX7 A6 is sized for smaller to mid-range compressor systems. This unit uses R-404A refrigerant, which was a common hydrofluorocarbon blend used in commercial refrigeration during the 2000s and 2010s before phasedown regulations began. Technicians working on R-404A systems will need appropriate recovery and handling equipment.
