The AT&T 2746B is a Multi Function Module (MFM) designed for use with AT&T MLX-type digital telephone sets in the AT&T DEFINITY PBX telephone system. Applications
The AT&T DEFINITY PBX platform was one of AT&T's primary enterprise telephone systems from the late 1980s through the 1990s and into the 2000s, widely deployed in large businesses, government agencies, hospitals, and universities across North America. MLX-type digital sets were the proprietary desktop telephones used with DEFINITY Generic 1, Generic 2, and DEFINITY G3 systems. The Multi Function Module (MFM) was an add-on card installed inside or alongside an MLX telephone to provide an analog port, allowing users to connect a fax machine, modem, or analog handset to their digital desk phone without needing a separate analog line. The DEFINITY platform was later rebranded under Lucent Technologies and eventually Avaya, and many DEFINITY systems remain in service or are being maintained at legacy installations. This module is relevant to anyone maintaining, repairing, or expanding an AT&T or Lucent DEFINITY system that uses MLX-type telephones.
