Applications
The Asante MacCon CS was part of Asante's MacCon line of networking cards aimed at bringing Ethernet connectivity to Macintosh computers in the mid-1990s. It was designed for Mac models equipped with ISA expansion slots — typically LC-series and some Performa models that used the LC PDS or processor-direct slots with ISA compatibility bridges. In that era, 10Base-T over twisted-pair cabling was replacing older coaxial Ethernet (10Base-2/Thin Ethernet) as the standard for office and workgroup networking, and cards like the MacCon CS allowed Macs to connect to standard RJ-45 Ethernet hubs and switches. Today these cards are primarily sought by collectors and by users maintaining vintage Mac systems from the early-to-mid 1990s.
This Asante MacCon CS 09-00098-12 Rev D ISA Ethernet NIC has been visually inspected and appears to be in good used condition. The PCB is clean with no obvious damage, and the RJ-45 port and ISA edge connector both look intact. Some light handling wear is typical on pulled cards of this age.
