The Apple AirPort 630-2883/C is Apple's original first-generation 802.11b wireless networking card, released in 1999 alongside the original iBook. It uses a PC Card (PCMCIA) form factor and slots directly into the dedicated AirPort card slot found in compatible iBook, PowerBook, and Power Mac G4 systems. It delivers 802.11b wireless connectivity at up to 11 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and supports 128-bit WEP encryption. The card is manufactured by Lucent Technologies (using their WaveLAN/IEEE chipset) under OEM model designation PC24-H.

Applications
The original Apple AirPort card was designed exclusively for Apple hardware equipped with a dedicated AirPort card slot, including the iBook (original clamshell and G3 models), PowerBook G3 (FireWire/Pismo), PowerBook G4 (Titanium and Aluminum), and Power Mac G4 systems with a factory AirPort slot. Apple introduced AirPort in July 1999 as one of the first mainstream consumer Wi-Fi solutions, and Steve Jobs famously demonstrated wireless internet by passing a hula hoop around an untethered iBook to show there were no hidden cables. These cards connect to Apple AirPort Base Stations or any standard 802.11b access point and are still sought today by collectors and users maintaining legacy Apple hardware from the late 1990s and early 2000s. The card is not compatible with AirPort Extreme slots, which use a different, larger card format (802.11g).
This Apple AirPort 630-2883/C 802.11b Wireless PC Card has been inspected and appears to be in good condition. The card has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but it was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use.
