Applications

The SU48BP was designed for data center and IT environments running APC Smart-UPS SU-series systems where extended runtime is needed to outlast longer power outages or to allow for an orderly shutdown of servers and networking equipment. The Smart-UPS SU3000 and related units were widely used through the late 1990s and 2000s in server rooms, telecom closets, and mission-critical workstation environments. By daisy-chaining the SU48BP to the host UPS, users could substantially increase the available runtime without upgrading to a larger UPS chassis. The AP9606 Smart Slot Web/SNMP card shown in the photos allows remote monitoring and management of the UPS over a network, a common requirement in managed IT infrastructure of that era.
