The APC Back-UPS 250 is a standby (offline) uninterruptible power supply designed to protect desktop computers and peripherals from power outages, voltage sags, and surges. When utility power fails or drops below acceptable levels, the Back-UPS 250 automatically switches to battery power within milliseconds, keeping connected equipment running. It accepts 120V AC input and delivers up to 250VA / 170W of protected output power through two NEMA 5-15R outlets.

The APC Back-UPS 250 was designed in the early-to-mid 1990s for desktop computer protection — a period when brief power outages or voltage sags could corrupt data on spinning hard drives and cause costly downtime. Standby UPS units like this one remain useful today for small office and home setups, protecting a desktop PC, monitor, external drive, or networking device during power events. The Back-UPS line was APC's entry-level consumer and small-business offering, and many units from this era are still put back into service after a fresh set of batteries is installed. Compatible SLA replacement batteries (6V 4.2Ah, such as the CSB GP 642 or Yuasa NP4-6 equivalent) are widely available and inexpensive, making this an economical option for light-duty backup power needs.
This APC Back-UPS 250 Uninterruptible Power Supply is in used condition and has not been powered up or tested at our facility. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in service. The cream plastic housing shows light yellowing and minor surface scuffs typical of age, but there is no cracking or significant cosmetic damage visible. The AC power cord is included.
