Description
Allied Telesis CentreCOM AT-MX10S IEEE 802.3 10Base-2 MAU Microtransceiver
The Allied Telesis CentreCOM AT-MX10S is an IEEE 802.3-compliant Medium Attachment Unit (MAU) microtransceiver that connects a workstation or network device's AUI port to a 10Base-2 (ThinNet coaxial) Ethernet segment. It draws power directly from the AUI port's DB15 connector — no external power supply required — and provides a compact, inline solution for attaching AUI-equipped equipment to coaxial cable networks.

Applications
MAU microtransceivers like the AT-MX10S were a standard component in early-1990s Ethernet networks built around 10Base-2 (ThinNet) coaxial cabling. Many workstations, servers, and network interface cards of that era featured a DB15 AUI port — a general-purpose attachment point that could be connected to different media types via an external MAU. The AT-MX10S bridges that AUI port to a 10Base-2 segment by handling the electrical signal conversion between the AUI interface and the coax cable's BNC connectors. These transceivers are still sought after today for maintaining legacy 10Base-2 networks, restoring period-correct Sun, DEC, HP, or IBM workstation setups, and connecting older AUI-equipped devices to surviving ThinNet infrastructures. The SQE (Signal Quality Error) / Heartbeat switch allows the unit to be configured for compatibility with equipment that either requires or rejects the SQE test signal.
This Allied Telesis CentreCOM AT-MX10S 10Base-2 MAU Microtransceiver is in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it had been previously in use. The housing is clean with minor surface wear typical of used networking equipment. The DB15 AUI connector and BNC port appear intact with no visible damage. The SQE Test (Heartbeat) switch and LED indicators are present and undamaged. It has not been powered up or tested at our facility. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
