Applications
The 1747-PIC was the standard programming interface for Allen-Bradley SLC-500 programmable logic controllers throughout the 1990s and into the 2000s. It connects a PC's COM port to the SLC-500's built-in DH-485 channel, enabling program upload/download and online monitoring using Rockwell Automation's APS (Advanced Programming Software) and RSLogix 500 software packages. The SLC-500 family — including the SLC 5/01, 5/02, 5/03, 5/04, and 5/05 processors — was widely deployed in manufacturing, packaging, material handling, and process control applications. The 1747-PIC remains in demand today for maintaining, troubleshooting, and reprogramming legacy SLC-500 installations that are still in service in plants and facilities worldwide. It is also compatible with use on the DH-485 network for multi-node SLC-500 systems.
