Description
Aesculap Meditec MCL 29 Dermablate Er:YAG Dermatology Laser 2.94um 1200mJ
The Aesculap Meditec MCL 29 Dermablate is a floor-standing Er:YAG (Erbium:Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) laser system designed for cosmetic and plastic surgery applications. Operating at the 2.94 µm wavelength — the peak absorption wavelength of water in tissue — it delivers precise ablative energy for controlled removal and resurfacing of soft tissue. The system uses an articulated mirror arm to deliver the beam through interchangeable handpieces and tips, with operation controlled via a foot pedal. The front-panel display shows real-time energy output and pulse frequency settings.

Applications
The Er:YAG laser at 2.94 µm is the gold standard wavelength for ablative skin resurfacing because water — the primary absorber at this wavelength — is present throughout soft tissue. This makes the MCL 29 Dermablate well-suited for procedures including skin resurfacing, scar revision, coagulation, vaporization, ablation, and precise cutting of soft tissue. It was used in cosmetic dermatology and plastic surgery practices during the mid-to-late 1990s, a period when ablative Er:YAG systems gained clinical acceptance as an alternative to CO₂ lasers due to their shallower ablation depth and reduced thermal damage to surrounding tissue. The system's interchangeable tip set allows the clinician to adapt beam delivery for different treatment areas and tissue types. Er:YAG laser systems of this class remain in use in dermatology, aesthetic medicine, and oral/maxillofacial surgery applications today.
This Aesculap Meditec MCL 29 Dermablate Er:YAG Dermatology Laser is in used condition and has not been powered up or tested at our facility, but was pulled from a working clinical environment where it was previously in service. The unit shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with prior use. The display screen, front-panel controls, and articulated delivery arm appear intact. Included with the system are multiple handpieces, a hard-shell accessory case with a set of treatment tips, a foot pedal, safety glasses, and owner's manuals — all visible in the photos. Please view our photo set and contact us if you have any questions.
