Applications
The Adtran TSU ACE is designed for T1 WAN access — connecting a router or multiplexer to a telco-provisioned T1 circuit at speeds up to 1.544 Mbps or on fractional T1 subrates. DSU/CSU units like the TSU ACE serve as the demarcation point between the carrier network and customer equipment: the CSU function terminates the T1 line and provides loopback and testing capability, while the DSU function converts the router's serial data stream (V.35 in this case) to the bipolar line coding the T1 circuit requires. The TSU ACE was a popular choice in enterprise, campus, and small-business WAN deployments throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, frequently paired with Cisco routers using a V.35 serial cable — the included CAB-V.35MT-10 is the standard Cisco V.35 DTE cable used for exactly this purpose. Units like this remain in use in legacy T1 WAN environments and are sought after for lab testing, spare parts, and maintaining older Cisco/Adtran-based infrastructure.
This Adtran TSU ACE 1200295L1 external T1 DSU/CSU has been inspected and appears to be in good used condition. It was pulled from a working environment where it was previously in service. The unit shows light cosmetic wear consistent with normal use; the housing is intact and the front-panel LCD and controls appear undamaged.
