Applications
The Adaptec AHA-1522A was a popular SCSI host adapter for IBM PC-compatible systems of the early-to-mid 1990s, designed for 286, 386, 486, and early Pentium-class machines using the 16-bit ISA bus. SCSI was the dominant interface for high-performance storage and peripherals in that era — faster and more flexible than standard IDE/MFM — making cards like the AHA-1522A standard equipment in workstations, servers, and high-end desktops of the period. Its integrated floppy controller made it a space-saving solution, eliminating the need for a separate floppy card. The AHA-1522A supports daisy-chaining of up to seven SCSI devices on a single bus, including hard drives, CD-ROM and CD-R drives, scanners, tape drives, and removable-media units (e.g. Iomega Jaz/Zip SCSI, SyQuest). Today these cards are sought after for maintaining and restoring legacy ISA-bus systems, for use with period-correct SCSI storage in vintage PC builds, and for data recovery work on old SCSI hard drives and tape archives.
This Adaptec AHA-1522A ISA SCSI-2 Controller Card has been pulled from a working environment where it was previously in use. It has not been powered up or bench-tested at our facility. The card appears to be in good cosmetic condition with normal wear consistent with prior installation and use. No installation guide is included with this card.
