Applications

The Acer 640P-002 was widely used in consumer and office desktop computers during the late 1990s era, before DVD drives became standard. These drives remain popular in retro computing projects and vintage system restoration, where they provide reliable CD-ROM playback and data access. The 40x speed was considered very fast for its generation and makes the drive responsive even by today's retrocomputing standards. It is fully compatible with Windows 95, 98, ME, XP, and other legacy operating systems that relied on optical media for software installation and data distribution.
