The Bausch & Lomb Micro Tessar XR549 is a 32mm f/4.5 precision macro lens designed for extreme close-up and scientific imaging applications. It uses the classic four-element Tessar optical formula, developed jointly by Bausch & Lomb and Zeiss, and is built for use at close working distances where correction of spherical aberration, color fringing, and astigmatism matters most. This example comes mounted in a substantial cylindrical adaptor body with a large flanged plate for rigid instrument mounting.

    This Bausch & Lomb Micro Tessar 32mm f/4.5 XR549 macro lens was pulled from a working environment and has been inspected. The lens barrel and cylindrical body show general wear consistent with age and use, including some scuffing and minor surface marks on the metal body. The lens element itself appears clear and free of obvious damage visible in the photos. The large flanged mounting adaptor shows more significant wear — the rear brass flange has notable surface rust and oxidation across most of its face, as clearly visible in the photos. The aperture ring is present and the f/4.5 through f/16 markings are legible. The lens element bears its original engraved markings ('MICRO TESSAR', '32mm', 'XR549').
