Description
Testrite SeeRite Opaque Projector 6x6 Copy 7x7 Ft Image 150-200W Bulb Metal
The Testrite SeeRite is an all-metal opaque projector designed to enlarge 6x6-inch flat copy — books, photos, artwork, maps, documents — and project the image onto a screen or wall at sizes up to 7 feet by 7 feet. Unlike slide or overhead projectors, an opaque projector works directly from reflective originals without requiring a transparency, making it useful for copying, tracing, and displaying flat artwork or printed material. The SeeRite operates at projection distances up to 12 feet, making it suitable for both small and large audiences. It was manufactured by Testrite Instrument Co., Inc.

Applications
Opaque projectors like the SeeRite are used to project flat, opaque originals — printed pages, photographs, hand-drawn artwork, maps, and books — directly onto a wall or screen without requiring a transparency or slide. They were widely used in schools, art studios, drafting rooms, and print shops for enlarging and tracing artwork, copying lettering, and displaying reference material to a group. Artists and illustrators commonly use opaque projectors to scale up reference images for murals, canvas transfers, and sign painting. The SeeRite's use of standard household incandescent bulbs — rather than expensive proprietary projector lamps — was a practical selling point that kept operating costs low. This model dates from the mid-to-late 20th century era when Testrite Instrument Co. was a well-known American manufacturer of opaque projectors, art projectors, and related display tools. Opaque projectors continue to be used today by artists, hobbyists, educators, and restorers who need to enlarge and trace printed reference material.
This Testrite SeeRite opaque projector has been pulled from a working environment and visually inspected. The all-metal body shows normal wear consistent with age and use — the tan finish has some light scuffs and handling marks visible in the photos, and the unit shows cosmetic aging typical of vintage projection equipment. It has not been powered up or tested at our facility. Please review all photos carefully and contact us if you have any questions.
