Applications
The Microdyne 1400 series telemetry receiver is a professional-grade instrument used in ground stations for receiving and demodulating RF telemetry signals from airborne, missile, rocket, or spacecraft test articles. These receivers were standard equipment at aerospace test ranges, military test facilities, and government/contractor flight test operations throughout the 1980s and 1990s, where they were used to recover PCM, FM, and PM-modulated data streams from test vehicles transmitting on IRIG-standard telemetry bands. The 50–90 MHz RF tuner covers the lower IRIG telemetry bands (IRIG Bands I and II), used for short-range and some missile/range applications. The plug-in modular design allowed ground station operators to reconfigure the receiver for different mission frequency plans and demodulation formats without replacing the entire mainframe. Microdyne telemetry receivers remain in active service at test ranges and aerospace facilities that support legacy telemetry systems, and they are sought after for range support, system integration, and spares inventory. The 1400-MR is compatible with other Microdyne 1400-series plug-in modules.
